ABOUT US
Capital Dance Studios in a locally owned and run dance school that was established in 1999, by Michelle Chapman.
Michelle Chapman successfully ran the school for 13 years before handing it over in 2012 to Amy Truong and Cleo Ludski, her students of over 20 years and teachers for over 10.
At CDS we pride ourselves in the ability to provide a safe a supportive learning environment for our students and teachers. Our motto 'For the love of it...' and that is just what we do.
We offer classes from 3 years old to adults in styles; Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Acro and commercial Heels.
For all students and young adults wanting to take their dancing to a competitive level we also offer competition troupes from ages 7 years to 25 years.
ALONG THE YEARS
2012 - 2022
Our Directors Amy and Cleo have been good friends for over 25 years and have had the honour of running CDS for 10 years. They are the Ying to each others Yang, their love of dance and teaching others is a force to be reckoned with.
Both with ample experience in over 16 years of teaching all levels and ages; between them they are trained in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, heels, fitness, aerial sports and competition techniques.
Amy and Cleo strive to be nurturing and fun hearted, focusing on the values of family, dedication and loyalty to each other.
We sadly say goodbye to one part of the dynamic duo in 2022, as Cleo Ludski says good luck and goodbye...for now ;), as she ventures into the new phase of her life as she Jumped at the opportunity to be posted overseas for 3 years.
We love you Cleo Ludski, forever and ever! We wish nothing but the best for you in your new travels and even though we all know you'll shine in your new adventure, we will miss you every day <3.

A NEW CHAPTER
Capital Dance Studios is now solely owned by Amy Truong after saying a sad goodbye to her business partner of 10 years. Keeping the same heart and goal CDS has continued to be, she now endeavours to expand the school and provide opportunities not only for her school aged students but the progress of performers of all ages across Canberra.
CDS has been known to be one of the most versatile schools in Canberra with a history of industry working performers and choreographers over 10 years.
Capital Dance Studios Pride themselves on the relationships they continue to build not only in dance but in life, and continue to live under our life long motto...For The Love Of It...We are more than just a dance school.
CDS SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility, Terms and Conditions
Capital Dance Studios provides 2 scholarships per year awarded at the end of year concert. A Class Scholarship and a Troupe Scholarship.
To be a CDS Class Scholar the following criteria applies.
CLASS SCHOLARSHIP - 1 class off fees for a full year.
For the amount of 1 class per term.

Is a student at CDS and has been for 2 consecutive years.

is between the ages 8 - 18.

Has paid fees on time and/or communicated appropriately with office.

Is non transferable to other students at CDS.

Is non negotiable.

Is valid for 1 year only.
To be a CDS Troupe Scholar the following criteria applies.
TROUPE SCHOLARSHIP
For the amount of troupe costs not incl. costumes and admin fee.

Is and has been a troupe patron for 2 consecutive years. (this incl. Dev Troupes)

Is between the ages of 10 - 18

Has paid fees on time and or communicated appropriately with office.

is non transferable to other students at CDS.

Is non negotiable.

Is valid for 1 year only.
